About Me

My name is Josh Ellis, and I am the owner of Jellis Woodworking. I was born and raised in Kansas City, and have lived here my entire life. I went to high school in Kearney, and graduated in 2012. After that, I attended Missouri State University in Springfield where I received my Bachelors degree in Construction Management. While there, I also met my beautiful wife Holly whom I married in 2016. Since then, I have been working for a local general contractor out of Lenexa, and Holly has a first grade teacher for the Independence school district.

My Story

In March of 2018, Holly and I purchased our first home In Gladstone, MO. Being a young couple not long out of college, we quickly realized we didn't have much to furnish our new home other than some cheap dorm furniture. After purchasing a few items from big box stores, I got tired of assembling cheap, flimsy furniture that I knew wasn't going to last. Having taken a few shop classes in high school, and having some basic tools in the garage, I decided to try and make a few pieces for the house. The first was our coffee table (pictured to the right) that we still use to this day. I ended up finding a passion for creating items that would stand the test of time, as well as the sense of accomplishment from building something with my own hands. From there, I considered woodworking a passion of mine, and am eager to build quality pieces for other families to grow and create memories around.
